Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Night Housekeeping and Portering Supervisor to join the Estates and Facilities Department here at St John and St Elizabeth Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of Soft Facilities services at the St John and St Elizabeth Hospital during out of hours and manage, Supervise and support the Night teams. The post holder will be the point of escalation for Housekeeping, Portering, Security and Catering out of hours and work closely with the clinical site Operational Team to ensure all night time requests are undertaken.

  • Good general education GCSEs, Higher Education
  • Cleaning qualification – NVQ/BICS
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification
  • European Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent
  • Supervisory/ Leadership level 2 or 3 qualification
  • Experience of working in an Healthcare environment
  • Previous experience of working in Supervisor/Team Leader role
  • Experience of healthcare cleaning procedures
  • Experience of working in a customer service role
  • Have a good standard of English language both written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high pressured environment & work to deadlines
  • Diplomacy and ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Ability to work as a team member or on own initiative
  • Good knowledge of COSHH and Manual Handling.
  • Have flexible working attitude and remain calm pressure and stressful situations
  • Ability to work under pressure with strong organizational skills

 

What are the Responsibilities of this Night Housekeeping and Portering Supervisor role?

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Housekeeping/ Portering/ Catering services meet the needs and expectations of Patients, Visitors and Ward team. The post holder will work as an integral part of the hospital team; will be responsible for ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment by maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness, as defined within the National Specification of Cleanliness.
  • Undertake cleaning tasks in the event of absence (annual leave and sickness).
  • Undertake and administrative tasks.
  • Night Housekeeping and Portering Supervisor is responsible to the General Manager Estates and Facilities.
  • Complete weekly staff rotas for the areas you are responsible for, covering sickness and annual leave to ensure there are adequate trained staff to maintain the level of service.
  • Train and assess Housekeepers as per the departments Induction Programme in all aspects of cleaning and the use of equipment.
  • Conduct annual staff appraisals of the night Housekeeping team.
  • Undertake cleaning of premises such as patient rooms, theatres, consulting rooms, public areas and staff working areas including floors, sinks, toilets, wash hand basins, baths, work showers, surfaces, cupboards etc. using designated equipment and re-stocking materials as required.
  • Emptying/ cleaning of domestic and clinical waste bins. Ensure that waste bags are placed in the designated collection points.
  • The use of specialist equipment such as vacuums, scrubbing machines, carpet shampooing machines and sealing of floors as per the cleaning procedures and schedules.
  • To complete deep cleans as per Hospital Policy and ensure the correct forms are completed.
  • To clean equipment such as beds, chairs, shelving, bins, walls, vents, theatre lights.
  • On occasions is required to use step ladders to undertake cleaning of theatres pendant lights/ vents.
  • To work within a seven-day Rota and to work variable flexible hours.
  • Adhere to all aspects of Infection Control in all areas of work, including the use of color coded equipment to ensure there is no spread of infection.
  • Report maintenance faults, building fabric issues, pests and any other concerns to the Estates Helpdesk.
