Description

We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Resident Doctor (General) to join our clinical team, providing continuous on-site medical support across the hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor looking to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, delivering high-quality patient care while gaining exposure to a broad range of clinical specialities, including acute medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, and palliative care.

Working alongside consultants, nursing teams, Critical Care Residents, Urgent Care Doctors and Hospice Medical Staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective, and responsive care for patients 24 hours a day.

Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct patient admissions, assessments, and clinical examinations.
  • Attend ward rounds and support consultants in developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Provide continuous medical cover through a 24-hour resident doctor service operating on 12-hour shifts.
  • Review and manage inpatients, documenting clinical findings and care plans accurately.
  • Respond promptly to requests from nursing staff regarding patient care and clinical concerns.
  • Prescribe, review, and amend medications as directed by consultants.
  • Perform clinical procedures, including phlebotomy and administration of intravenous medications.
  • Initiate emergency treatment and participate in cardiac arrest and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure thorough handovers between shifts.
  • Support clinical governance initiatives, audits, incident reporting, and quality improvement activities.
  • Promote excellent patient experience through compassionate and professional care.
  • Provide medical cover for hospice patients during nights, weekends and bank holidays.

What we’re looking For

  • Fully qualified doctor with full GMC registration.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification completed within the previous six months of employment.
  • Minimum experience equivalent to a second-year Senior House Officer (SHO).
  • Relevant UK healthcare experience.
  • Competency in emergency procedures, including airway management and intubation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible approach to shift work and patient-centred care.
  • Postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience in Orthopaedics, Surgery, General Medicine, or Palliative Medicine.
  • Previous Resident Doctor/RMO experience.
  • Experience working within the independent healthcare sector.
