We’re looking for a professional, calm‑under‑pressure and highly reliable Security Operative to join our Estates & Facilities team at our hospital. Your role is central to keeping our hospital safe, secure and welcoming for patients, visitors and staff. You’ll be part of a trusted team that provides a visible presence, responds to incidents, supports clinical areas, and ensures the smooth running of our site.
This role is ideal for someone with strong situational awareness, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to handle challenging situations with dignity and respect.
Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Security Patrols — Regular internal and external patrols, including car parks, restricted areas and hospital grounds.
- Incident Response — Responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including fire evacuations and medical emergencies.
- CCTV Monitoring — Operating CCTV systems in line with GDPR and hospital policy, reporting suspicious activity, and supporting investigations.
- Access Control — Issuing and revoking access cards, managing entry points, and assisting staff and visitors with access issues.
- Customer Care — Providing a professional, approachable presence and supporting patients, visitors and staff with courtesy and respect.
- Car Park & Traffic Management — Managing vehicle access, preventing obstructions, assisting disabled passengers, and supporting barrier operations.
- General Security Duties — Escorting individuals off‑site when required, supporting mortuary duties, and liaising with emergency services.
What We’re Looking For
- Valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding)
- Experience using CCTV and access control systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, situational awareness, and de‑escalation skills
- Calm, professional approach in difficult or confrontational situations
- Flexible to work shifts across a 7‑day rota
- Reliable, polite, punctual and committed to confidentiality
