Description

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist who is eager to learn, with extensive post-graduate professional development in Neurological physiotherapy and experience in intensive care, to join our dedicated physiotherapy team here at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth.

 

The inpatient therapies team at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth provides specialist assessment and treatment to patients admitted to the wards, when clinically indicated. Our aim is to deliver evidence-based, high quality care, which is achieved through a clear governance strategy, service planning, development and multidisciplinary team working.

 

Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.

 

Am I the right person for this Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist role?

  • BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy or diploma or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for physiotherapy
  • Evidence of post graduate professional development in the medical physiotherapy specialism
  • Evidence of working at experienced Band 6 level and above
  • Relevant experience in: Neuro rehabilitation (e.g. stroke, neurological conditions)
  • Experience in intensive care
  • Experience of working across different inpatient specialties e.g. orthopaedic, respiratory, neurological, post-surgical.
  • Extensive experience of MDT working within neuro rehab settings

 

What are the Responsibilities of this Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist role?

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own professional activities in line with the standards of the Hospital, department, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • To have overall accountability for the planning and management of a complex caseload including but not limited to neuro rehabilitation patients with complex neurological deficits.
  • To utilise specialist level clinical reasoning to assess and treat:
  • Patients with acquired stroke, and other common neurological conditions
  • To provide goal-oriented neuro rehabilitation, promoting functional independence and long-term recovery.
  • To demonstrate a strong understanding of clinical governance, particularly within neuro rehabilitation settings.
  • Responsible for managing own time effectively
  • Complies with HCPC, CSP codes of ethics and professional conduct, national guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.
