The department is a 30 individually designed consulting rooms with equipment specific to the various specialties we cover and is in spacious, comfortable surroundings.

Am I the right person for this Ophthalmic Technician role?
- Preferable previous experience working in ophthalmic services / clinics
- Previous experience of carrying out investigations such as visual fields, OCT and biometry
- Excellent clinical skills
- Excellent communicator

What are the Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician role?
- To maintain confidentiality surrounding patient treatment at all times.
- To support consultants whilst in clinic to deliver outstanding care to patients
- To support patients and act as their advocate whilst in the department
- To carry out testing in the department to a high standard
- To support consultants in the minor procedures room
- To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Hospital approved documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines.
- To have knowledge of and adhere to Hospital policy and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise.
- To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for patients.
- Ensure that each patient is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated, and that this is accurately documented.
- Participate in effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments, relatives and visitors.
- Ensure quality care is given, by being familiar with agreed standards of care and to inform seniors, if the required standard cannot be reached.
